Do you have pet insurance if your dog is older?

Do you also have any recommendations for companies? I know a lot of companies won't cover older dogs now. Our dog is 12 years old.

We're looking into all of our options at the moment as our renewal price for Robin has come back at £169 a month from More Than and we just cant justify or afford that sum. I know the only problem we have is that lumps won't be covered by changing as he's had 2 claims in the past for cysts.

Any help would be great just to get an insight into what other do regarding insurance once their dogs get older.

Thanks :)

Asda took my dog when she was nine years old. I think you would struggle to find one to take a twelve year old.

Can you offer to pay a co insurance where you pay a proportion of the claim? Or have a higher excess? I have heard terrible stories from people who cancelled their insurance and then had terrible decisions to make based on cost.

I've been looking around and Tesco seem to be the best option at the moment as they will cover him on a lifetime policy with a fixed excess (no % added) but I agree that most companies don't cover older dogs at all.
