Pet Insurance

i have just phoned this company to ask a few more questions, they will pay the vets direct they pay £4000 per condition per month and the best bit as i dont get my dogs annual boosters it doesnt matter to them it isnt in there small print that they must be boostered every year.

Just tried a quote - they don't do dogs older than 10. There's your problem!

Make sure it covers any illness they get for life , a lot of them don't .

I have Molly insured with Halifax and they pay £6000 per year. This is a lifetime policy so each year it starts again. Molly was only 9 months old when she was diagnosed with Addisons Disease so we had to claim about £800 approx after only paying 6 months premiums and have been claiming for her tablets and blood tests ever since - with no problem at all. If you are taking out pet insurance make sure it is a lifetime policy as a lot of the cheaper ones only cover a condition for 1 year.

Also many vets will NOT accept payment from the insurance companies anymore, even if the insurance company will pay your vet directly.

I go to two different vets with my cats and my dog and neither of them will take payment from the insurance company. I have to pay up front then get the money from the insurance company. The vet I go to with the cats used to accept payment from the insurance company and I only had to pay the excess to the vet, but they said due to the insurance companies taking so long to pay out they have stopped it :(

no this is for life and as long as you insure your dog before they become 10 they will carry on the insurance its a life long policy so they will let you claim every year im lucky my vets allow me to let the insurance deal with it i dont pay them

Are you sure? I'm very surprised by that.

me too.

I imagine that if the dog contracted a disease that vaccinations would protect it against then the insurer won't pay out to have said disease treated? I can't see them paying out against say parvo if the dog could have been protected against it...does seem odd as most insurers would insist on vaccinations.
