Thought i would check Zeb's weight as he needs to be wormed next week, His put a bit on but not much. :- " Then i asked if the receptionist could put it on his records. One of the ladies was saying about pet smile month ending, Said to her that i didn't even know that it was on. She then asked if i would like Zeb to see the vet to get his checked. I could go straight in as no one was waiting.

He was given the all clear, slight discoloration but nothing to bad for his age. :D Asked what i use, told them carrots, bones, chicken wings(you should of seen his face  ) and i also use Plaque off.

All was will so i lift.

Saw mother in law today as her dog had to have his boosters. Told her about pet smile month, and about plaque off because his teeth are bad for a 6 year old dog.

She went to a different vets to me. The vet had never even heard of plaque off so told her not to use it. Cant believe that a vet has never heard of it. i swear by it now and i always use it on him.

I dont think i could go to a vet like that one.

Maybe they tell people not to use it cos they know they won't be getting much business from them if the dogs teeth are ok? Cynical...me...yep :- "

A friend of mine has a dog with recurring ear problems, I told her to use "Thorn-it" wonderful stuff which sorted out Raffertys ear problems years ago. Her vet had never heard of it so said not to use it a & her dog goes in to the vets regularly to be knocked out with a GA to flush his ears out. Kerchingggg!!!!!

I'm using Plaque-off just now and don't think it's making any difference at all!

I have not used Plaque off. I use Logic on my 2 it works great and they love the taste :D :D

If you use a chewy or a teethbrush then it can work wonders. my friends collie, has teeth were :x last year.(he was 2) now she uses plauqe off and also cleans them and what a difference it makes. she did already clean them before.

I use plaque off on one of mine who's susceptible. It's technically a plaque inhibitor so it's not really the be all and end all of preventing tartar forming but it does minimise the amount of plaque formation on my dog.

The company that makes it is Prodent who also make a human variation which we use on patients who've had jaw surgery with fixation (jaws wired together)

Their downfall is they can get a lot of staining of the teeth (which may be why some think it's not very effective but I've found this comes off easily with a toothbrush and 10% dilute peroxide) TBH I'd be happier if my ped would eat chicken wings but she acts like I'm trying to poison her!

In fairness to the vet, there's very little independant research done on this product and I suspect the product is only being promoted by reps so it may go against the vets ethics of promoting a product that ,may have minimal research involved.
