PETER i have given in and put my 35mm cameras to rest ,family bought me a fuji S7000 for my birthday.i have done very little with it. could you give info on settings for taking dogs racing.my son tryed to but the auto focus did not lock on .should you use continious focus any ideas :b

David, sorry to butt in, I have a fuji f601, not so grand as your version seems to be. I found the best way to take shots with it is to write down what settings you have taken them at and then have a look at the results, Better looking at them on the pc rather than the small screen, being as you aint paying for film it doesn't really matter how much you practice. I am sure that your results will be worth it.

i have looked at the book i will try continous focus on auto, sport , and shutter priorty, hopefully at easington tomorrow. as long as it is dry never use my cameras in damp conditions. will log setting to find best results as .

If you use shutter priority mode and choose the lowest shutter speed that gives a crisp unblurred image ( about 1/250 should be enough but try a few speeds) which means the camera will choose the highest f-stop possible. The higher the f-stop the deeper the depth of field, ie the depth of picture in focus.

You are as well using the widest angle lens ( without actually going wide angle) possible and getting as close to the action as possible as telephoto or zoom will also decrease your depth of field. It is better to re-size or trim your image digitaly on the computer than use zoom to fill the frame.

You can focus on the area the dog is going to be and lock this, usually by depressing the shutter button slightly and then , when the dog is in the frame, press futher on the shutter to take the picture.

Apologise if you already know all this.

hiya john your old mate tony here now about that old fuji f601 mine and steve boyds mate dangerous dave has got the new fuji model for sale as you know david does try to cut corners andf save money on batterys so he wired it up to a electric pylon and got 70% burns so i think his camera is up for sale as he cant hold it, lol you intreasted lol

L O Tony, Now i know that just aint the truth Tony because they have WIND powered Generators on them there hills near Easington. After standing next to you mate, you can feel and smell why they have the wind power, Dangerous Dave reckons you are good for at least another kilowatt on the grid, just dont light up a fag ay. Have you told the wife yet that you like snogging cross dressing Nuns, always thought you and that nice looking woman, sorry man, Gary had a thing going. He was throwing himself at the racers in devon Tony, all that blusher on and lipstick, or was it the sun tan. Hope to see you at HARPICS some time, Love and kisses

oi john you said you wern,t going to say anything about me and gary after all you made gary do to you in your van lol you swine and you hurt him lol

Hi, Dave it looks like you have the bug for digi pics, Your s7000 will give great results. If you are having trouble with the focus with action shots its normally

because you are trying to follow the action up to the point you press the shutter. With your camera you need to select the area you want to take the picture, then press the shutter half way down, this will activate focus lock, follow the action untill it gets into the selected area then press all the way down. You will still need to select the desired shutter or apeture depending on light and type of shot you want. there is also a menu with all types of shot to be taken, landscapes, action, flash, portrait etc. but its like John said it does not cost anything to take pictures on digital so mess about with the settings and it will soon become second nature. Hope this helps, great first posts keep them comming.
