if fuel prices don't come back down to a resonable level personally IMO i think it will be the end of whippet racing as we know it now,i think dogs that finish in the top ten will be down to who can afford to travel, opens will be less attended than they are now,if there is no change in the fuel prices i for one will not do as much traveling next year.

what are your views :))

What annoys me is that the petrol companies put the price up at the slightest of incidents, but when things have calmed down the price remains the same.

:- "

The other thing is 75% of the cost of petrol is taxes to the government..

Tell me about it it's nearly up to a quid for deisel, we travel roughly 120 miles round trip for lure coursing, if it's something you love you pay it but it's not fair is it :(

There talking about fuel blockades for as early as next week on the news

They seem to be blaming the hurricane for the price hike but i think it was obvious that it was going up anyway!!

At present Diesel here is 102p - 104p.

I think that if you realistically look at it, a 5p increase????

The average tank contains ??50 litres?? = £2.50!!

Thats the price of a pint of beer, so have one less!!! :- " Or dont stop at the services, i know that when i stop at services it cost me about £10 on average stocking up on crap and sweets etc that would cost a fraction of the price if i'd have bought it from the corner shop.

I am in full agreement with you John, if Bill and I go to help run a BWRA event Asfordby is probably the nearest event we go to , but because we live in Portsmouth in the South the minimum miles of travelling we do is approx, 360 miles round trip, the only advantage of this is that the committee travelling expenses is only claimed once for two people, and now that we have a dog to race we only claim half of our travelling expenses i.e. to Asfordby and back £18. We all will have to draw the line somewhere, there is only so much that you can be out of pocket.

Understand everyone's comments...and it cost's us in many ways...food, goods etc..but, is it a chance for club racing to get going again? Maybe, limit the top ten to your dogs best 10 open performances, plus the 4 champs...if we can work around it, maybe it wouldn't be that bad...

it's only a matter of time before the goverment get there hands on gas just like they did with diesel they told it was cleaner for the enviroment.diesel was cheaper than petrol a few year back but when a lot of people changed to diesel all of a sudden it's dearer the same will happen to gas .

We only have Emma for the bends with the cost of fuel now it might not be worth it.

Maybe this will benefit club racing and bring peds and non peds closer together as at Westhoughton last year--- where the more that were there both groups the better it was for all.

Looking forward to the start date again as i am sure lots of others are ---this also brings new ideas to the sport trying something new ----

It could be a blessing in disguise for the local clubs or anyone who would like to start a club in there area with like minded people, after all clubs are the backbone of whippet racing.

i agree to john but what can we do.what will happen if they scrap the tax on cars and charge tolls on the roads that will kill a lot lf things.why do the gov take so much in taxes anyway?to keep them in the luxuries they have come accustomed to i suppose.

this goverment are more interested in iraq and banning coursing hunting ect :( t..ts  its time they gave something back instead of take take take :( poll tax all that crap
