I had to have Piper put to sleep today which has been a hard decision but the right one. She dislocated her shoulder and had it all strapped up. I took her today mainly because her bandage started to smell and has you can guess she had started to become sore. When they investigated further they found her shoulder had popped out again and they felt it wouldn't stay in place on it's own. We couldnt bare having her leg amputated especially as the other leg was the one she broke when she was four, wouldnt support her properly. Major surgery we felt wasnt an option at her age so we had to say goodbye. She wasnt the fastest thing on four legs but she was a good club dog and she helped a lot of pups acheive their passports to go on to better things. She was a very brave dog and a true friend and i will miss her loads.

Sue having been where you have been you made the right decision. Dislocated shoulders are a nightmare. I first saw Piper at a BSFA lure coursing meeting up your way (Red Rum's trainers gaff I think that it was). Your girl went BOB. She was a simply summat else.

Hugs to yourself and John. RIP little lass. That's 2 of them lit tonight for our doughty little whippets.

sorry to here you've lost piper, I remember John ringing me whilst i was fishing to ask about a litter he'd just found with a bitch he liked.

she trialed many dogs in and specialised on trialing the fighters as she was so solid in here racing.

sorry to hear youve lost her.

Sorry for your loss Sue, I had never heard of this type of injury being so serious until Tikkno Rawnie 2 weeks ago, and now quickly followed by Piper.

You don't mention her age, but judging by the quotes on here I'm guessing she was a pensioner.

    RIP Piper :(

Thank you for your kind thoughts she was only 11 and I had hoped to keep her till she was in her teens but it wasnt to be. She loved to run and she loved to poke about in the bushes. She pushed me around as most whippets do.She was the queen of the pack no one crossed her she only had to look at the others and they knew Piper knew best. The house isnt the same but we'll have to get used to that.
