PIXIE

**UPDATED: MAY 2012**

Beautiful little Pixie is a fawn and white lurcher pup who is approx. 6 months old. She was found straying in Ireland but has now thankfully landed on her feet, and is ready and waiting for her forever family to come along. Pixie should not be an overly big dog, and is likely a whippet x. She has an absolutely adorable expression that is very hard to pass by!

~ Personality ~

Pixie is a real little dote of a dog. She has just the right mix of sweetness and cheekiness to keep you laughing and loving her antics. 10 minutes with this girl and you will be completely sold on her! She adores people and will smother anyone with kisses, but is not overly bouncy either. She has pucks of potential and is going to be a really super little dog for someone.

~ In the Home ~

Pixie is currently in a foster home and is doing very well. She is learning the concept of housetraining and is making great progress. She is a clever little girl who is eager to learn and please, especially if tasty treats are involved! Being a young puppy, she is still learning the do’s and don’ts of living in a home and so may occasionally chew objects that she finds around the house. As with all puppies, this will dissipate with time and some work on redirecting her attention to her own toys.

~ Other Animals ~

Pixie is a little star with other dogs and adores their company. She loves to play and romp with other dogs her age, and naturally loves to play chase with anyone who’s game. She would do very well in a home with another dog or three already present to play with her, be her role model and give her that canine company that she craves.

Pixie is suitable to live with a confident cat who will only take so much from her before telling her that’s enough. She is currently in a foster home with 2 other cats but can be too much for them when playing. There is no malice in her, she just wants to play, but kitties don’t usually want to play back! She listens to correction very well so we feel that if she was placed with a cat who would stand their ground, she would be less rambunctious and a bit more respectful of her feline friends.

~ Out and About ~

Pixie is very good when out seeing the world, and is friendly and social. She is learning to walk on a lead and is doing very well. She is full of that puppy curiosity that means she wants to see sniff and taste everything she meets, and she is a joy to bring out with you.

~ Where Can I Live? ~

Because Pixie is still a young pup, she will need to go to a home with someone around most if not all of the day to keep an eye on her and provide company. She would do really great in a home with other dogs, could slot fantastically into an existing pack, and can also live with a confident cat. Pixie is very sweet and could live in a home with children over the age of 8.

Ideally Pixie’s new owners would take her to puppy socialisation classes so that she can meet other dogs around her age and have some lovely play sessions. Being so young, she will also need a family who are willing to put some time in to training her, continuing the work her fosterer is doing now, and showing her the big wide world. This little cutie is guaranteed to give back tenfold what she receives.

~ Where Am I? ~

Pixie is in foster in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to her foster home to meet her.

Pixie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK.

Our Website: Kerry Greyhounds UK

If interested in one of our hounds, please visit our website’s Adoption Page for information and instructions on our homing procedures. Once you have filled in and returned the application form, we will then contact you via phone or email to discuss adopting one of our hounds in more detail.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. I (Tam) can be contacted through the following email:
