Hi i was hoping that there was someone on ea that cud help me . My 3 year old staffi bitch as just been caught by a seven month old rotti. I really dont know what to do. Im scared she might not be able to give birth if it does result in pregnancy. She as had a litter before but that was done properly with a kc registered staffi. What would you do in this situation. please any advice will be very much appreciated.

Phone your vet as there is treatment to stop a pregnancy , its an injection given I think 5 days after the mating then another is given something like a week later , its not 100% full proof but is better to try than put your much loved girl at risk.

Ring your vet immediately & tell them you would like the mis-alliance injections, they are normally given 48 hours after the mating took place & then a second one 72 hours after.

They are virtually 100% effective :thumbsup:

As above ring your vet ASAP and get the morning after injection

I had my Lurcher done after she escaped one night and came back wet through and badly torn.

There were no after effects to skye except that she never ran away again!!!

And if you dont want to breed with her get her spayed to avoid any further scares in the future. :luck:

Different vets must use slightly different drugs and doseage as a friend had to have her dog injected and I remember thinking what a long time to leave it before taking action.

Thankyou i didn't know there was an injection, i will ring my vet now

The other thing they can do is neuter your bitch (and at the same time the vet will remove any pups). This is a good idea as it will prevent a future unwanted pregnancy ( and future seasons which is a relief in my opinion!). Spaying also protects the dog against cancer of the womb.

I hate to say it but there are so many unwanted staffi crosses in all the rescues that I would not recommend taking the pregnancy forward if you have a choice.

I have also heard of two different pounds putting to sleep staffi mums and their litters of pups, as the pups were suspected of being pitbulls. (probably falsely suspected.) Trouble is not so many people want bull breeds these days after all the bad press they have been getting. They are hard to rehome.

Thankyou for your advice ive spoken to my vet and they said they will spay her when her season is over. What a relieve ive been so stressed over this and it only happened last night

I think you're making the right decision for you and the bitch :thumbsup:

so much easier to cope with no seasons at all if you can

No more mess and no more worry over rampant dogs

Im sure she'll romp on after the op with no worries at all
