imo all points opens should be run as weighed. this would stop people looking for easy points, as if you needed points to say win the top ten with a 16 lb dog but you knew there was dogs you could not beat, but no dogs in the 40lb class. you could do a solo in that class and win the top ten,NOT VERY SPORTING AND NOT FAIR. (this is a an example to point out unfair it could be) :(

i thought it was run as weighed @ top ten opens? ive always thought that about scratch racing its not fair if its not run as weighed as any size can go in the no limit which i personally dont think shud be allowed as u might get someone putting a 30lber in the no limit and for one thing..i can only go in the no limit nowt else but most of all purely for safety reasons i think it shud be run as weighed 4 example iof u did put a 30lber in the no limit with dogs as big as 50lb... well wot wud u do if four 50lbers hit your 30lb? it happened to me once with a 50lber and he was well injured. just an example

No coz then you'd gain your points in the scratch top ten and not the main top ten, hence not adding to your tally ;)

Most racing is run as weighed. Sherry as regards what you say a 30lb racing with a 50 lb and if it ran into the smaller dog there could be an injury. Quite often in the No Limits there are dogs weighing 41 lbs racing with 60lb plus No Limits so the weight difference is exactly the same which means there is always a possibility of the smaller No Limit dogs getting injured. There is such a big variation in the weights of the No Limits and nobody seems to think of the dangers involved.

What about in the supreme scratch run offs. Some of the 36lb scratch dogs only weigh 32.5ozs,and if you want extra points, you have to run off with the no limit winner.I know its the owners choice, but there's a big weight difference, and the smaller dog could get injured by the heavier dogs.

I suppose it's the same in the handicap racing too, when 16lb dogs run off with 32lb dogs[but the weight difference isn't quite as severe]

Getting back to the topic, yes i do think top ten opens should be run as weighed.

only 3 dogs in a supreme scratch cud be 5 in a no limit race anyway that was just an example. joan i think u will find on the straights that the there r no 60lb + no limits i know there is on the bends but they wudnt fit in the boxes on the straights lol i dont think its fair as the heavier dogs cant go down a class but the lighter dogs can go up a class.... not fair is it? im sure there will be a few who will disgaree but this is my opinion i think it shud be run as weghed all the time.

At the end of the day it's up to the club that is holding the open to decide the format me personally i think it should be run as weight but that isn't upto top ten to decide.

i agree all top ten opens should be run as weighed the bwra & nnwrf do it so why can't the clubs do it,then it will stop dogs going up a class to avoid a particular dog or go up into a class were there is no entries just to score points for the stud dog or brood bitch.

i know there are dogs that like a particular side and that they go up a class to get the side .

what david h meant i think was if you had a 16lber and you new you could'nt win that class and there was nothing in the say the 32lb class you can enter in there and gain points  :- "

youve got the drift john  its club top ten opens i was talking about, moving classes to avoid dogs and gain points  not very sporting :- "
