My older daughter went back to school on Monday and the little one started for the first time yesterday, and my poor poor whippet is proper miserable. He's had their undivided attention for six weeks and before that the little one was only at nursery a couple hours a day. He's behaving like a naughty puppy. He even stole a teddy from the little ones bed and chewed it up today which he hasn't done since he was a puppy! Rocket has two good walks a day loads of toys and Libby a whippet cross to play with! any ideas for a miserable Rocket ?

Have you tried one of those balls that you stuff treats into? They have to roll the ball just right to get it to release a treat. Let's face it they will do anything for a treat and it will distract him from the kids toys.

Or maybe a socialisation class so he can meet other dogs?

It won't last long and he will soon get used to the new routine. My girls are 16 and 14 and my oldest whippet who has been with the girls since they were small does that too. He's doing it at the moment as this is the first week that they have both been back at school. I ignore it and it lasts a few days until he gets used to the old routine. I would imagine that your dog will be similar but I would not make a fuss about the behaviour as this will only make it worse.

Poor Rocket, but of course hes still really only a puppy you know, his sister Meloody is naughty all the time and she has NO excuses , as i type she is chewing a cardboard nail file , whilst Peanut is just chewing the top of the bottle of my new vail varnish (w00t) LOL

go to your butcher and buy a big bag of beef rib - job done

Thanks for all your suggestions. He is getting better. Followed all your advice. He's still clingy but not as bad as last week xx
