got home yesterday to canine disasters... after finding Flora had dried blood on the back of her ear we investigated further but couldnt find any reason for the injuries she appeared to be wearing...

within a few hours the beginning of a haematoma on the side of her neck below her ear and chin started to show itself, by bedtime she was getting very quiet..

during the night we checked on her and her condition was worsening, Caroline took her to the vets first thing this morning and she is now on antibiotics and the pending threat of an operation to lance the increasing lump that is appearing under her chin,

its horrible seeing a loved one injured... I feel so helpless....

at the moment she is sitting quietly on the couch feeling very sorry for herself....

we hope to find out wether its a foreign body or simply a bite from my cantancerous old lurcher blu whom flora shares a room with during the day when we are at work....

ill keep you all posted

Poor Floradoodles hope the outcome from the vet is positive and that she gets well really quickly :huggles: :huggles: :luck:

Quick update .....................Flora is marginally brighter, but spends all her time flaked out on the sofa. She just cant get comfortable as the swelling under her chin is soooooooooooooooo huge, she cant rest her head at all. Its awful not being able to do anything to help her feel better so I am just waiting for her tablets to kick in and trying to cool her down as much as possible.

She has managed some chicken soup I made for her, which has got to be a good sign.

The vets thought the swelling would have subsided by tomorrow, so fingers crossed she wont have to go in and have it drained.

Love to Flora - hope she recovers quickly poor girl.

poor flora hope shes better soon

thanks to everyone for your kind words

she does look very sorry for herself at the moment..

ill try an dpost some pics later

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm im feeling somewhat duped here

on her brand new 'im poorly and therefore worthy' gorgously comfy bed, reclines a greyhound. She offers a paw whilst looking deep into my eyes, oh woe is her   She looks hungry, so I hand feed her some chicken, she looks thirsty so I carry across the water bowl and hold it at just the right height and angle .....................I find myself swallowing for her, just in case she finds it too sore. She settles back down, a huge sigh and wobble of greyhound chops; her life is so hard

Worrying, I go back to housework, keeping an ear out for sounds of distress, opening the back door as I pass, so the rest can go have a wander. I am still in two minds about 'phoning the vet again and tell myself should she still be weak after lunch, we will go to the afternoon surgery.

The next thing I hear is the scrabble of canine feet on wooden flooring and a volley of frantic barking and catch a glimpse of the neighbours cat, clawing its way up the garden fence, only inches away from the whiskers of Rosie, Basil and Blue and yes, you have guessed it, bloody Flora!! Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I have been well and truly taken in lol

It is such a relief she is on the mend ...............although she is doing the 'please help me I'm so ill' look again at the moment. Dogs eh???????

:D :D :D - that's dogs for you! I bet she thought you might not see/hear her if you had the hoover etc going!

Hugs and kisses for Flora, wishing her a speedy recovery

Bet she is lapping up all the attention! :)

:huggles: For poor Flora and a big greyhound lick of William hope she's feeling better soon

William says even a very sick greyhound has to chase cats at every opportunity and no greyhound would ever dupe anyone into thinking they're ill when they're not :- "
