jake (who was one on Friday!!)

was sick on thursday eve.

friday morn got up to a horror movie :blink: vomit and diorrhea everywhere!!!

he has had diorrhea ever since. i gave him a small meal yesterday and he has had fluids and has not been sick since thursday eve.

the other dog, pixie ( six months) is fine.

i put ant powder down on thursday morn, read the packet it just says keep away from fish. i dont think they disturbed it but i cant think of anything else that could be a cause. do dogs just get 'bugs' like we do????????

OH poor thing :x try straving him for 24 hours but make sure he has lots of water to drink you could also try him with some boiled rice. but to be on the safe side bring him to the vets as it could be something he has eaten which has caused his stomach to become upset good luck let us know how you get on :thumbsup:

Bless him Yes,dogs can get bugs,but most instances of upsets are through them eating something they shouldn't.

Like Neave says,don't feed him for 24 hours,but plenty of water,preferably with electrolytes added.

I would get him to the vets though as he probably needs some protexin or something similar to settle his tummy

BTW,my vet was telling me last week that the worst thing to give a dog with an upset tummy is bolied rice. This is something that has only recently been discovered & he couldn't remember the exact reason,but will let me know soon!

oh shit... thats what he had with his tea on the thursday when he began being sick.

perhaps it was the rice that started it.

if i have some left over from our meal, ie; rice, pasta, veggies etc i mix it with the tripe.

i did hear once that rice was one of the worst offenders for giving humans food poisioning as it is a good breeder of bacteria, espcially when not heated through properly. if you are ill after a curry night it is more likely the rice is to blame and not the curry.

i always thought dogs had much hardier stomachs than us but i maybe all wrong :b

Brown rice is a better bet,but there are some dogs that can't tolerate it,my Flyn is one of them!

White boiled rice should always be eaten fairly soon after cooking,& never store overnight then eaten as,like you said,it can give rise to food poisoning (w00t)

Cooked rice is an ideal medium for bacteria growth, but that takes at least 48 hours to reach dangerous levels. Freshly cooked rice poses no danger. White medium grain rice is the most gentle non irritating food you can give. When my dogs get tummy upset I cook a chicken broth (skim any fat), mix in little bit of probiotic yogurt, then slowly return them to their normal diet.

It sounds as your dog has either eaten something he should not or had one of those bugs going around. :luck: :luck: :luck:
