I took the girls out this morning to some fields that I used to go to with Milly, the sheep have all gone and the electric fence has as well so everything was ok.

Now then, there is a stream running through them, with trees and bushes each side.We had a good hour running about then on the way back what was in a tree, a squirrel, that was it, two Whippets racing up and down like pair of looneys. Poppy stood right on the edge of the bank, it's about 8ft down in that part, barking like mad. I looked at her and thought, oh no do'nt do it Pop, to late, down the bank, thro the stream up the other side going mad. I started calling her back, after the Squirrel went, then she stood on the other side looking at me then tried to get down but would'nt risk it. A dark cloud decended over me as I knew what I had to do, go and get her. I had some wellies on so I thought I would be ok, mmmm right, went down the bank into the stream, ok so far. Shouted come here Pop, she came straight to me, half way down the bank she came, I went to grab her, oh no not Poppy that is to easy. She dived straight past me like an olimpic diver, water splashed all over me, in my wellies everywere. Up the side back to Milly and both stood looking at me in the stream. I tried to get back up the bank then slipped down again freezing water came right into my wellies, jeans wet through and covered in mud. I finally got back up to see Milly chasing Poppy all around the field, both came back to me, stood there panting, ears sticking sticking up, tails straight out and tongues hanging out while I emptied a pint of dirty stoney water out of my wellies. I looked at Poppy then at the state of me, then you look at their faces and think, awwwr bless them, they are only having fun !!!!!!.

When I got home the wife looked at me and said, " been making mud pies have we ? "

You have got to love them! That has made me smile before I go and do battle with a class of A level kids who think they know everything!

I know the feeling well :teehee: :clown:

The situations our dogs get us into

Hope you do not catch a cold

 i love your attitude "they are only having fun" and you paint such a vivid picture with your story. I can just see them thinking fantastic he is stuck in that river let's go mad as hatters as it will take him a while to get out of there and then to stand there like cheeky monkeys while you are soaked o:) :D

You tell such a good story you should write a book about their exploits :teehee:

What good girls they are ;) , they could have run off , leaving you all wet and alone

great tale John

Hope your wellies have dried out
