yes have to agree as there is prefixs that havent been used for so many yrs im sure it should be taken off if not used in 5 yrs ?

you should'nt be allowed to use names of past racing dogs as it confuses the breeding data base jmo , as for affix & prefix not sure about that :- "

i agree john dont think a name should be reused if the dog was raced at bwra but if not i think it should be as alot of pups reg never see the track.

(w00t) thought you wantad buttplug,casper

ill get u back Raoul :D hows the parrot :D u dance (w00t)

racing names yes i agree john but affix and prefix mmmm when it gets to ifs whens and whats lol bolox :D after owning blue goblin we cant call her offspring blue thanks to Mr warren :D (w00t) even though tony did say it was ok still refused like i said bolox

might try and buy prefix Rch that will cause some probs :D

The problem is simple words being accepted and given permission for use as a prefix / affix. With show dogs the KC approve a fancy name as a kennels prefix, e.g. in our case it was Geifang then each dog would be named something like Geifang flying fox of Geifang red alert etc. As you can see if the prefix of flying or red had been approved well basically it screws it up for the masses. IMO ownership of a prefix should only be given on unusual names. I'm not critical of individuals who've gained ownership of a prefix as it makes naming their pups a damn sight easier and if I was in their position I'd consider it too. It's just the lack of thought that's gone into approving some.

For example (and I don't know if it is already under prefix) what if blue was granted prefix? There's already 100+ dogs on the database on here with that name so I find it useless for a kennel to gain some kind of individual association with the word and just messes it up for anyone else with a blue whippet in the future.

It's utter shite - i said this months ago on here.

40 years ago my grandad had a bitch with "Little" as the first part of the name, i'd be quite within my right to get that as a prefix now but look how many dogs there are racing just now with Little in the name.

well i think they are a loud of poo. coz if u have had a dog/bitch like gary called blue goblin he thought of using blue so he should be able to use it again but change the sencand bit and if the same owner wants to rewrite a name then that there chioce isnt it!

I've heard you can also register more than one prefix? LOL Vicky it might be worth you getting black, red, little, silver etc etc, should keep you covered for next 50 years or so
