PRINCE

Prince is a 2 year old ex-racing greyhound lad who was not quick enough for the track. He had to get a toe amputated from an old racing injury when he was younger, but it causes him no problems now. He has a soft black coat and very pretty eyes.

Prince is a lovely bouncy friendly boy who truly loves life and everything in it! He absolutely adores people and will do anything for a bit of fuss and a cuddle. He would do very well in a home with another like minded dog to play chase with him, or with a family with teenagers or slightly older children to teach him how to play with toys.

Prince loves his walks gets really excited when he knows its that time of day, but once out he soon calms down. He is very well behaved with the other greyhounds in our kennels and really loves his offlead exercise in our secure field. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs!

Princ has sadly not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit patient at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience. We are sure Prince is going to adapt very well to the home life, especially if he can get lots and lots of cuddles.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

Prince is currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick him up. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Prince, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!
