Hi folks I'm trying to follow doctors advice and do more walking folowing a heart attack and cannot think of a beter way of doing that than walking a lucher through the Cornish countryside. I am looking for a pup as we have cats and really don't want to go through the process of trying to introduce an adult dog. The type of cross is not really important it's more about a dog that takes my eye, but if I'm honest my ideal would be a collie/greyhound x bedlington/whippet rough coated merle preferably the brown/red merle but as I said that's not as important as whether the pup takes my eye. I willing to travel throughout Cornwall and up to West Devon. If you know of any litters in this area I would be grateful of details.

Thanks

Pete :)

Hi :))

I can't help re: a litter but I will just add that I adopted a stray 3 yr old saluki x whippet bitch last Summer and she has been fantastic with our cat since day one. I know what you mean, especially if you have a few cats it may be better to play safe and get a pup but don't completely rule out an adult - heaven knows there are hundreds out there needing homes. Scruples Whippet Rescue may know of one and many of the sighthound rescues have throughly cat tested lurchers needing homes e.g. Lurcher Link.

Good luck with your search - I agree there would be no better way to recover :luck:

Thanks for your reply Esty. I agree with you some older dogs are fine rehomed with cats, I've done so myself in the past but it can be hard stressful work and depends on not only the nature of the dog but the cat as well. We have 2 cats 1 would stand its ground swearing at a dog but the other is very temperamental and skittish flying around the house for no reason at all, she would probably give the dog a whack and then run off which is fine to teach a pup to leave cats alone but an adult dog would probaly retaliate especially with a small furry flying about and I cannot afford to take that chance my wife would kill me if anything happened to her cats, so I'll stick to the pup idea thanks :)

Deerhound pups in the West Briton.... I wish.. but I am not allowed, lol :teehee:
