I always weigh my pups at birthand then every three days as part of making sure their progree is ok. There does seem to be a connection between weight at birth and the final size and weight of the dog when it's full grown.
I've normally raced and bred scratch or heavyweights and pup weights at birth are normaly around the 400g mark. Solo and Amber are both scratch dogs and so I was expecting the same but the pups are smaller and lighter than my previous litters. There doesn't seem anything wrong with them at all; They're fully developed and lively just a bit smaller.
I would appreciate anyone with similar records with lightweights to let me know their weights at birth to help give me an indication as to their final size and weight because I don't think these are going to be scratch dogs . Lol I'll have to work out how weight handicaping works :- " :teehee:
