Hi all

Trying to crate train puppy, 11 weeks, been giving his meals in there and treats, eats in there fine but regularly pees in there, randomly so it's affecting the progress of the crate training
Any advice appreciated please 🙏

There are really two things going on here - toilet training, and crate training.

Ideally, your puppy won't toilet in the crate because you will have taken him out before he actually jneeds to toilet - he should never feel so desperate to toilet that he can't help but go where he is. Crates can help with toilet training in so far as dogs prefer not to toilet where they eat and sleep, but if your puppy has to go, he has to go - wherever he is.

I'm going to attach our guides to toilet training and crate training - please have a read but do come back with any questions or if you think anything doesn't fit your situation.

How much of his time is spent shut up in the cage, are you training him onto the puppy pads? When does he pee in his cage, how many feeds does he get and what are you using, what times are you feeding him and does he get plenty of free time out in the garden to do his wees and poos, how long is he actually locked into the cage. There are loads of questions that we may ask to help with the little chap
