I am looking for a dog puppy. I live in Northumbberland but am willing to travel. I would be very grateful for your help.

I am looking for a companion for my 6 year old bitch having recently lost her sister but I never raced them. I would like to try racing if I get a puppy but I have also been in touch with the whippet rescue. The only thing that concerns me with a puppy is how old would it need to be before it could race around with my present dog. Perhaps you could advise me please?

it wud depend on the size puppy u got the smaller ones u can start sooner but its generally the youngest is 6 months but that wud only be little hand slips of about 15 yds. properly racing prob about a year old. dont know whereabout u r in northumberland but we have racing on in wallsend every sat morning @ wallsend sports centre. u cud come along just to watch 2 c wot u thought? u wud b made very welcome. starts at around 11am every sat. :

how big is your bitch, ?? what is she like with other dogs,??? some take to pups straight away, other take a little longer, when i have a new pup i let it mix with all my dogs straight away, the older dogs will let the pup know when they have had enough and will keep away from it, your bitch may take to a pup if she's missing her sister and want to mother it, :thumbsup:

That is reasuring but I was also worried that chasing after the older dog on the beach for instance might be too much for the puppy.

oh sorry i thought u meant how old wud thy be b4 they wud race? running with another dog im unsure as mine r racers i dont let them off together although i know some people do. anyway like i say pop along to wallsend sports centre and u can c if racing is 4 u.
