HI there,

I have a 6 month old Westie. She is delightful. However, i noticed from time to time eg. this morning she whines. I fed her and then got in shower when she started. Sometimes, she will have a toy or a treat in her mouth and she walks around when she does it, it sounds like a whimper and then will go into like a wolf howl. She is getting lots of love and attention so i cant think for the life of me why she is doing this. Sounds like she is whining for her mother or something. if anyone can shed any light on this would be great\?

Apart from that she's a happy little puppy!

Thanks

Jeni

Hi Jenired

What else is she doing when she's whining? What does her body language say?

Could she be hearing a dog outside that she's talking to? Or maybe just noticing that you've gone?

My Molly's best mate died recently of a ruptured tumour, very sadly, but the two of them used to have a whine and howl conversation any time they were within earshot of each other. If I pulled up outside their house Molly would bark and he'd answer with a whine and then a full on wolf-type howl then they'd have a good old sing song to each other until we allowed them to get to each other for a snogging session, This was cute beyond cute bearing in mind that she's a GSD and he was a shihtzu :)
