Could anyone tell me the advantage of using soft collars for their whippets. Can they be used while out walking or are they for use in the house.

My dogs have leather hound collars, but my oldest dog has a small neck & I have difficulty finding them to fit.

Thanks

juley does some gorguse ones to and so does abby all on the market place :D

yes the fabric collars are made very stong so as you can go out with them on - i use mine on my borzois and they are very strong dogs indeed!

i make them from all sorts of jaquard fabrics, hi viz yellow to see them from a distance and velvet also.

here are my lot with some of the collars ive made recently for them - 'scuse the tangled leads!

happy collar hunting!

I use soft collars outside with a lead all the time I just prefer them as I havent found soft enough leather ones up to now.

Its personal preferance really there are such beautiful collars on here I love to show them off and always get comments on them when we are out and about.

I just team them up with good quality co-ordinating leads and have a few tags that get moved around as and when.

I always remove their collars in the house as I feel they are comfier without them just as I remove high heels when I get in and put on slippers!!

The best thing about soft collars is there is so much choice and they are not very expensive :D

Bad thing about them is choosing which one for them to wear that day :- "

Mine have leather and soft collars depending on what they are doing

Yes im the same mine have both, and wear them at different

times. I think if anything the soft ones are the safest as they

can be made to fit really snug. I find the leather ones can

sometimes stretch :))

Ooh, they all look so cute! The matching leads are so lovely

if your dog is a puller or well behaved there fine infat there very good for pullers. but I would not use one on a timmed dog thats prone to bolt backwards. when working with the rescue we have had a few timmed dogs slip fabric collars by going backwards there heads out before the collars tightend up. one was on a main road and tony (hubby) was nearly killed by a car catching the poor dog so I am now very carfull with them. I have never had one slip a well fitted leather collar thought. mine all were fabric in the houes but leather outside but as I am a collar junky I have over 50 leather collars and I am to scared to count the fabric ones

Sometimes those nice pretty house collars can get a bit dirty when you go on walks but if you want to show them off on long walks, you can wash them in the washing machine if you put them in a jumper or bag so as it doesn't damage the nickel.
