can someone tell me how u work out your yds per pound racing @ your h.cap? i mean i know all the dogs get weighed and give yds per 1lb start. wot i want to know is, do they lose yds if they win overall? come runner up? win a heat? etc also do puppys/yearlings/vets get any extra start? just curious as 2 wot each club does? thanx for any advice.

If you got a dog 17lb and it wins the final...you would add 3 lb on to there weight (or what ever)...so your 17lb would be 20lb thous giving more yards away...hope that makes sense :teehee:

like gary says it's just the same as time handicap but in reverse instead of being pulled yards for winning you have lbs added to whatever weight your dog as won at.

i.e. winner + 3lb

r/up + 2lb

thanks  heat winners stay the same then? dont think we will have that many dogs but always handy 2 know lol

p.s wot about pups/yearlings/vets? do they get any extra yards or anything? cheers

Manton Handicap system advance and retard

Final winner + 3yds

Heat winners +1yd

2nd in heat stay on same mark

3rd or 4th in heat -1yd

We re weigh in at beginning of each season - and the dogs handicap marks are adjusted at the beginning of each season accordingly so for example if your dog weighed 24lb start of 2005 and say finished the season on a mark of 22lb - but weighed in at 25lb in 2006 its handicap mark would be adjusted by +1 new seasons mark would be 23lb or if weighed in less then obviously would be minus however much. We do not re start the handicap from scratch each season therefore if a dog has just reach a point where it may win on the handicap it is not penalised by having to begin all over again to reach a winning mark.

We're meanies tho dont give pups or vets a lift as soon fit into handicap as a rule with this system. We also have trophies over varying formats throughout the year in between handicap races.

Tuesday evenings is straight yd/lb racing ABC (D if we're lucky) over distances of 150/165/175yds.
