i have a 5 1/2 month old dog 3/4 grayhound 1/4 deerhound.how old should i start it rabbiting o:)

A dog of that breeding i personally wouldn't start working him serously until he's at least 11 months old. he'll just be right for the harvest rabbits i wouldn't try him sooner as you may spoil him. He'll be a handy size for the larger quarry too :- "

try and be patient with him.
 
Depends on what sort of rabbiting you are going to do with it.

Ferreting i would have em out straight away, even if its just watching, they still learn loads.

But ferreting is all but over now till next season, lamping will carry on for a while longer till the ground is baked dry.

Best leave the dog till next season now, will be much stronger by then.

Still a shame you couldnt have done something this season though.
 
Get the basic obedience without game straight first...big dog will need time to grow out too...if I had such a big cross I'd wait untill 15 months or so...
