Hi,

through other forums I,ve been asked to clear some rabbits at a sports ground in Stourport. Not done a recce yet, but been told its a ferretting job.

Anyway if your interested in a trip out, please PM me.

The groundsman will refund petrol costs.

Weres that to then??

Humm i wonder all the way from Bristol...would he pay??

i'd be up for it mate but the rabbits are in young now and it's 150 miles from me.

Hi,

got to the place at 0800 sharp, met the groundsman, and John (Iforhounds) had a quick look, the groundsman was keen to get things done.

Found the obvious white tail buries.

Looked around the area to see any groundsign, there was "A bit"

Anyway John and I netted the known buries, entered the ferret.

Result, was a mind blowing "Nothing"

Got paid petrol money, which was a plus point this morning.Another plus point was the area is now Johns lamping permission, I suspect the odd fox or 2 will be lamped, fingers crossed.Within the rules of the Ban of course.

John and I went to some of my permission in Herefordshire, spoke to the farmer and off we went.Seemed a shame to waste a day.The ground was frozen. But a thaw was taking place.

Bolted 2 rabbits, Johns dogs had a short but decent course, so that was good news.

Just confirmed the area has rabbits but live in the woods, so there be there for future lamping trips (When will this cold snap end ?)

All in all a fruitless day, but the dogs got in the fields, so did the ferrets, all good experience.

I suppose you have to have some bad days to have a good day !!

Maybe next time will be a good un, fingers crossed.

Mike

Not a bad day then Mike. it`s always infuriating when you go to see a place which is `crawling` with rabbits only to find none. Maybe the greenkeeper has got help he doesn`t know about at night :D

Been on some new permission myself over here which is 2 mins from our house. A fair few rabbits on, just got back from a quick walk , we got 2 , both bolted from the same hole under a stone wall, nice for a quick 1hrs work :D

The pup is coming on well , shes been having a play with one of the dead rabbits , she seems keen , been ragging the bunny. Going to give it a couple more weeks ferreting, then that`ll be me done until Aug/Sept

hi mike ,

thanks for a great day out , both me and my dog jenny learnt a lot , shame we didnt bolt a few more ! . next time perhaps .

thanks again

john
