who remembers the CLASSIC BONANZA run by Lynn Tolley at Swallownest wrc in 1986 , that was a good format held over 2 days day 1; was a maiden /pups/vets yd/ib [that could be done as a time format].........DAY 2 was the CLASSIC BONANZA TT POINTS the format was175yds yd/lb d/b sep; 6 classes in 2 sections --l/w upto 20...24...28. h/w upto 32...36...40. All 6 winners run off to find section winner. winner of each section run off to sup; ....... It was a great weekend of racing well sponsered and well attended..[showing my age remembering this].

:D I REMEMBER THAT EVENT ALLTHOUGH I DID"NT ATTEND IT,IT"S SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND WORTH A TRY BUT YD/LB FORMAT IS OUTDATED THE TIME AS COME TO CHANGE 2ft/LB IS A MORE FAIRER FORMAT,I KNOW PEOPLE ARE GOING TO SAY HE"S ONLY SAYING THAT BECAUSE HE AS A HEAVYWEIGHT DOG I HAVE ALSO HAD LIGHTWEIGHTS HOW MANY TIMES DO THE HEAVY DOGS PULL OUT OF A FINAL AT YD/LBT THEN IF YOU RUN AT ½/lb THE LIGHTWEIGHTS PULL OUT,BUT I HAVE BEEN TO QUITE A FEW 2/ft OPENS THIS YEAR AND ALL THE FINALISTS HAVE RAN ,NINE TIMES OUT OF TEN THE LIGHTWEIGHT WILL STILL WIN ALL IT IS DOING IS MAKING IT SAFER AT THE KNOCK-OFF HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU SEEN THE BACK DOG 30LB+ HITTING THE LITTLE 16LB+, ITS ON THE LURE AND THE 30+DOG IS 8YDS BEHIND. ITS UP TO THE CLUBS TO LEAD THE WAY BUT IT WON"T HAPPEN BECAUSE IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHO IS ORGANISING THE OPEN AND WHAT SIZE DOG THEY HAVE. JUST MY OPINION

:Di agree with u john and i run scratch dogs so it doesnt really concern me. i personally think it is a lot safer as well as fairer for the dogs. 2ft per pound open at horden sat just gone winner troubelle 17lb and master tornado 23lb but as far as im aware only the heaviest bitch pulled out. :D

same format at blidworth on sunday winner short spot 21lb 2nd shes the tops 18lb 3rd master tornado 22lb and 4th blueberry boy 30lb all ran :D

Venues should cater for all so why not have 2ft a pound racing as well as yd a pound, that way all should be happy :p and will race their whippets at the venue they want to :p

I agree 2ft/lb over 150 or 160yds is the fairest we were the first club to do this format on the Liverpool open back in the 80s.. But regarding the BONANZA FORMAT the distance was 175yds i think yd/lb for that distance and 2ft/lb for the maiden or time .. fancy having a go at it MICHELLE/VICKY more than willing to help [were game for out in tne north west]
