Rafferty is a Blue Bedlington, aged nearly 7yrs. A neutered male. In summer this year I noticed the fur on his back looked a bit brown. I thought maybe he'd rolled in something but it didn't brush out. I've clipped him since but it's grown back a rusty brown again  This has never happened before & I really don't know what is causing it. It seems to be spreading across his back & shoulders & it's so noticable that people are starting to comment on it.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I've Googled it but found nothing at all. I was thinking all sorts of worrying things like Cushings disease which Beddys do suffer from. There were all sorts of symptoms but coat colour change isn't one of them.

I'm a bit reluctant to rush off to the vets as he's not ill, just rusty

my nana had a blue beddie.............she went brownish as she got older, but her other blue beddie didnt !!

lol.......that was usless info for you wasnt it :b

 Bless him.

What is he fed? I have heard some people saying that when their dogs are on a raw diet that their coats became darker. But not getting rusty.... :clown:

RAW!!! Are you joking???? The 2 lurchers may well eat raw food (& love it) but Rafferty???? I don't think so :- " If I even dare to put a bit of raw mince in his bowl, thinking he won't notice, he looks at me as though to say..."You know I don't eat this stuff, now cook it & cook it NOW!!!!

Fee Fee, that article is very interesting but they obviously never met our Raffy, he's not what you'd call typical of the breed

any pic's...........i love beddie's :D

I remember reading an article once about an Elkhound who's coat was turning blownish and they said it was a lack of potassium in their diet .

Here he is. This was last winter when he was really wooly. And before he started to change colour

Potassium? Aren't bananas high in that? I can't see him wanting to eat them though. You'd never poison Raffy, he's very fussy about what he eats :b

I have to watch his copper intake so would be a bit wary about giving any supplements just in case it upset the balance. Thanks for the info tho, I'll look into that.
