I keep reading that lots of people give raw chicken wings to puppys and dogs saying that it is good for them.

I have spoken to my husband and he is shocked to hear this, and says what about the bones etc, plus he has said ,so you just put one down you don't cut them up??

Could you please let me know your views on this please and if you do it at what age did you start doing it.

Very interested in doing this if it's got benefits for doing it,but also very worried if it wasn't right,so please give me advice yes or no for a 12 week puppie, and how do you start it .

I give chicken wings a couple of times a week and have seen a huge improvement in my dogs teeth. But my dog is adult. Another forum member, Excuseme, will be able to advise more about when you can give to a puppy as she is our feeding guru, but the bones in a raw chicken wing are soft and don't splinter. Never cook though. There is also a sinew type part of the wing which has a sort of flossing action on the teeth and the bones contain glucosamine which is good for joints.

What sort of dog do you have? If he is a larger breed you might start sooner?

Joanne he is a little dachshund/JRT,so that is why I need to get advise.Thankyou for your advice.

Not thinking of doing it straight away, that's why I want to get all the facts first, just as a dog owner for many years things have moved on and so much to learn again ,especially with things like this.

chicken wings are not good for puppy.
Sorry ann_e you are misinformed. Chicken wings and other raw food is excellent. Chicken wings are very good for cleaning teeth and also are a source of glucosamine.

ann-e.

Chicken wings are fantastic for all dogs (they must remain raw ! )

I start puppies at 5 weeks of age on wings and carcasses. Perfectly "Safe"

The above post is in correct!

I'm a late starter to raw food but have started giving my Cockapoo raw, whole chicken wings to her when she was nine months. She loves them and now replace two of her meals a week with a raw chicken wing. She managed perfectly well with no negative side effects.
