Re-occurring worms

Hi, my dog has had worms 4 times now. A couple of times I've treated him, and then one time I took him to the vet. I hadn't seen any signs of worms for a couple of months until this morning when I took him out and saw one in his stool that was moving.

He tends to eat our cat's poop if the cat decides to poop outside the litter box, so I wonder if that's why he keeps contracting them. He also LOVES TO EAT ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! However, the vet said it's not very likely it's from the cat(s) plus these have been at least a couple of different types of worm.

Has anyone experienced so many cases of worms? I'm going to take him to the vet again. Maybe the worms have actually never really gone away?

You need to worm him regularly. I worm monthly. Your vet can advise.

How old is your dog and in what time period has this happened.

Over the counter treatments rarely work .

You say in another post your dog has separation anxiety and you leave him for 8-10 hours a day ? . Maybe he is distressed at being left alone so long. I know we all have to work but I wouldn't leave my dog that long. I think you need to get your cat and dog to the vet's , get them both worked properly , then you need to keep your dog away from the cat litter and cat poo so he doesn't have the opportunity to eat it and I would seriously consider doggy day care or at least pay a dog walker to come in to see to your dog during the day ..8 -10 hours is a very very long time for a dog to be alone

yes me and my wife work every day at least 9 hours and it is hard the someone will be with the dog that period.

It is a good idea to find day walker and i will check this option

You are either a troll with who has some serious issues and nothing better to do than try to wind up lovely people who happen to be dog lovers or a tosser who shouldn't be allowed to care for stuffed animals ,let alone a beautiful 1 year old puppy..either way I'm not rising to it anymore.if you are genuinely an owner then I would seriously consider rehoming the dog to someone who can give it the care and attention it needs and deserves

The nurses at your vet practice can advise on a full worming programme. Only prescription wormers really work and they need to be given regularly. Don't wait until you see worms.

Leaving any dog for nine hours just ain't right, anybody who thinks leaving a dog for that time should never own a dog, put yourself in the box room for nine hours with no radio and see if you change your mind.
