We are pleased to announce that Manton Whippet Racing Club has been given the go ahead to start racing again on our new track, we aim to have our first meeting on 7 February 2010(weather permitting haha). We were intending to go down this month to measure out the track and check the equipment (try our new traps out) etc but so far the weather has put pay to this, but hopefully withn the next couple of weeks or so this will be sorted.

We are in the process of sorting out a fixtures list with dates/distances for each meeting etc. as stated previoiusly we will no longer be running the 'old' handicap system and have decided to move with the times and go with the format of ABCD racing as most people like to have a guaranteed 2 runs, we will run yd/lb at all our meetings possibly over 4 distances, 150, 160, 175 and 200yds hoping to cater for all sizes of whippets (would people be up for 200yds ?) also with a possibility of including some different formats for some of our annual trophies, pairs meeting, 100yds/1/2yd/lb and my old favourite the pre war handicap. At the moment these are just ideas but watch this space for the FIXTURES list and confirmation of START date etc.

All thats left to say is GOOD LUCK to all for 2010 and we look forward to seeing old and new members. Happy New Year

Pat, Karen & Girls

Can't wait :D

Looking forwards to running 200yds again, be nice to have some longer distance races. Hey, tack another 20yds on and we'll fetch Kerri out of retirement :clown: .

BEST OF LUCK KAREN HOPEFULLY SEE YOU AT THE PUPPY CHAMPS WITH GEORGE (eastender)

Great news Karen  Looking forward to coming  Infact at this moment looking forward to any racing. This weather needs to hurry up and go away:lol:

thats great hopefully will have 2 pups 2 run there @ the pup/yearling champs if i can ever get them schooled with this bloody weather. good luck anyway :luck:

Managed to get down to the track today, measured out distances and marked out the field, we can get 200 yards with over 30 yards run in. Club purchased a new battery so took the opportunity to give the lure a whizz or two down the track and all seemed fine. Next job was to try out the traps that we have had revamped by Chris from electric to manual, painted up all posh (really look the business) but unfortunately we seem to have no 'springs' for them so that will be next weekends project and then hopefully everything will have been checked and confirmed as in working order ready for the 7th Feb our first meeting. All we hope for then is a few dogs to start off our new season  so see you all then :)

best of luck with the new track any pics.

maybe map to show folks where you are :luck:

Duplicate post - i have posted on the Club section too and will endeavor to keep people informed of club information and activities in the club section once we are back up and running properly again

The fixtures list has now been pinned, we will try to keep to it as much as possible but it may be necesarry on occasions to cancel or alter events. We are going to try the 4 varying distances to begin with and see if people are happy to run at these if it doesn't work and we feel the 200yds isn't worth while we will discuss it with members and find an alternative.

Where possible i will try to keep members updated on here with any changes or information they may need aswell as trying to inform people without internet access in advance where ever possible. Once again i will try to put the results on weekly.

Just one more thing and i know that 99% of racing people now DO clean up after their dogs, but we are lucky that we have been allocated a space for a track on this newly redeveloped sports field, which will shortly be used by alot of other people, children included, so if we want to keep it we need to respect what is asked of us and do this little but important thing. Thank you

Can all dogs please be quiet and unboisterous too :- .

I'm at the Law Ball on the Saturday Night/Early hours Sunday and may be quite sleep deprived and/or delicate on the Sunday  .

Fleesh (signed in under Mum as it appears that my account is not logging in).
