Last Monday, February 20, 2006 at 8 1/2 weeks our pups were vaccinated with Intervet Nobivac DH and Npbivac Lepto. As from Tuesday all three have had mild diarrhoea. Yesterday we mixed the dry food with boiled rice but have seen little improvement. We called the vet. this morning and were informed that the problem could be a reaction to the vaccinations. All pups are running around in the sun and playing with mother. Comments welcomed, Regards, Stephen

I've just wanted to write about the same problem with my dog, she came from Russia and a day before coming she was vaccinated by Nobivac Rabies! Vet gave her only a half of usual dose. And he said something strange to dog's owner that if she will feel herself bad after the vaccination then to give her... forgot what first, but second - adrenalin. The day when dog arrived to me she also had awful diarrhoea, only today she feels better. Though everything else is OK with her - she eats with a great appetite, plays with dogs, etc.

This dog lived with me earlier and was vaccinated with Nobivac, even full dose and there were no problems at all! And no one of my dogs have problems after the vaccination.

I suppose that in my case there was another possible problem - the day after vaccination bitch came into season and perhaps her immunity was rather weak before the season and it caused such reaction to the vaccination.

But what I think else - maybe there's some problems with several consignments of Nobivac? How do you think?Otherwise vet didn't make a warning about possible by-effects.

stephen mason, did you wormed puppies before vaccination?

hi

if i remember rightly its the parvo component of the vaccine that causes diarrhoea in dogs...its very common but to a differing level of severity...its not an allergic reaction as such....and im surprised your vet classified it as one its more a common side effect ...if that makes sense?

dont worry it should clear up within a few days

kaz

Yes Sidewinders. We always worm our pups before vaccinations. This time we used "panacur" about 4 days before vaccination. The next vaccinations are due at 12 weeks with Nobivac Lepto and Nobivac DHPPi . Rabies vaccines will be given in late May or early June at the same time as the puppies are "chipped" as this is organized and partly financed by the autonomous community and goes along with a handout of worm tablets.
