The whippet book I've got (a few years old now) lists some of the former leading kennels in whippet coursing, these include

Laguna, of course :- "

Tweseldown

Jimanica

Nimrodel

Martinsell

Moonlake

Chyton

Hungeryhall

Cheesehouse

As I am relitivly new to the whippet cousing scene :( I would like to know if these kennels are still going and how their dogs are doing.

Also which kennels/dogs have been doing well in more recent years as my book is not very up to date.

 you lot

Lakey

Don't know anything about the kennels Lakey, just wanted to see what a whoppet looked like!!!!!!!!!!!

Kane is a whoppet, a little fat whopper of a whippet = whoppet

Funny you should mention this I was only today reading a discussion of most successful coursing dogs in The Whippet Spring 2002 (special article on the 40th anniversary of the WCC). It was a bit complicated but the author ( A. Loch ) concluded the three top dogs "in straight forward totals with all top scores for stakes, courses won and finals reached' were Chyton Minstrel, Laguna Leader (II) and Laguna Lively Lilt. Lilting Laird was a bit further down, I'm sure Polly'll be happy to hear that Lakey.

I think most of the kennels mentioned and their owners are still going - not sure about Hungryhall or Cheese house though.

Tell a lie, here's WCC results 2004-5

Laguna cup - Astrophel Anya RU Jimanica Jesse's song

Moonlake cup - Jimanica Jonathon Seagull RU Wish me Luck

other winners Shandril moondance, Jealous harlot, Jimanica Jazzy refrain, Pelyma Blimey I'm Black

Wish me Luck and Pelyma Blimey I'm Black have been running well at BSFA recently, and the Jimanicas/Lagunas are usually at the Venture Hillsprint too.

Wish Me Luck can also be seen racing at South Cots  ......His dad is owned by k9 owners Judy and Nigel :D

I was wondering about Alex's dogs - what's behind Corabella Star, who's done very well this year?

How far north does the big whippet coursing meetings come. Norfolk, Sufolk and the South Cot are a hell of a treck from the West Yorkshire area if you want to go and watch to see if you fancy having a go :(

What whippet coursing meetings? There aren't any at the moment because of the ban. Are you meaning lure coursing?

Yes I mean Lure coursing, but set up to simulate live coursing over larger distances.

Like the one Lamping Man won the other week.

The Lancashire Lure coursing is a fair treck too, but I'm gona make one in to when Mark is able to set some dates, gona try the racing as well
