My 3y old PRT bitch Holly has started to vomit up a couple of mouthfuls of bright yellow bile for the past 2 mornings, i took her to the surgery with me yesterday and was given Ranitidine (150mg) at a doseage of 1/4 tablet twice daily, and was told to give her small quatities of light food. She had two 1/4 tablets over yesterday and another 1/4 this morning, but was still a bit sick. Given the chance she will eat straight afterwards. She had this a couple of times in the past, but feeding her a small amount of kibble last thing at night has always remedied it within 24hrs. Anyone else experienced this with their dog..what worked?

My Alfie did this a lot when he went through a stage of not eating in the evenings (& in general ;) ), I asked on here and was told a small biscuit as soon as he woke would stop it - which it did.

just curious but i wonder why a biscuit first thing in the morning helped?

I guess it would put something in the stomach. I gave Holly a few bits of dried fish stuff that she loves in her bed this morning, but she still threw up yellow bile..not the food..just bile. She seems fine 10 minutes after being sick and will happily eat breakfast, she doesnt vomit at any other time of the day. I'm wondering if giving her these Pedigree chews for teeth have upset her?

Doesn't need to be a biscuit, just something to line the stomach. They do it because they are hungry. I have a couple who bring bile up on a regular basis, especially if breakfast is late for whatever reason. Give them a biccie in the meantime and they are fine!
