Hi all,

I have now mastered the art of play with arnie, thank goodness. Now we seem to have another problem,He will happily wee and poo on a walk but will not go in the garden,on his first day at our home he weed and pooed loads in the garden but since i have only seen him wee twice.

I work from home so i cant always be constantly taking him out for walks but I can happily keep going into the garden now and again but he almost looks at me as if to say `what are we doing here then?`.I dont like the thought of him holding it for hours and last night he weed on the rug in our lounge-took him outside and didnt do anything- then walked into the kitchen and weed on the cuddly squeeky bear he plays with,I would of said this was marking but when he weed on the bear,it was a full on stream. We tell him a short sharp `no` when hes done it as we have caught it every time we never hit or smack and we never would and we take him outside [never carries on weeing outside] and either my partner or myself will clean it without him seeing so we think we are doing all that we can?when we go into the garden im armed with the clicker and treats in the hope he will.Has anyone got any other suggestions? Thanks x

When he wee's outside whether it's on a walk or in your garden have some really really tasty treats with you. Start like you would with a puppy. Take the treats out in your pocket, give him the command you are trying to associate with doing his business, when he goes in a high happy voice like all his christmases have come at once praise him (good arnie wee!!) and give him the treat right away then and there. Don't wait till you're inside. He needs to associate the reward and praise with him going outside.
