Has anyone taken their dog on a residential training course? I don't mean the ones where you send a dog to be trained ("boot camp") while you stay at home, but the ones where you and your dog are both trained together (I've realised that I need training more than the dog). It's something I'm considering for the future. Mine is 6 months old and doesn't have any serious problems but I'm quite interested in anti-livestock chasing courses and there are a few in Cumbria. He's not shown any inclination to go after stock but he's only seen sheep through a gate as yet and there was a 10-minute staring match which the sheep won. I can't see me letting him off the lead anywhere near sheep for the foreseeable future but it would be great if he lost interest in them entirely.

I havent personally but I know someone who did take their young Lab on a weekend training course, residential one . She said it was fantastic and has booked another one for June . You`re right, its more about training us how to best train our dogs ! My Lab, 22 months, is pretty good, isnt bothered by cattle but we havent proofed sheep yet , its something I want to get sorted too, good luck .
