Hi some advice please....

I have bumped into a man when out walking who has a Rhodesian Ridgeback a beautiful looking dog. Now while Tilly was in season he took quite a liking to her as you can imagine, and they ran around having fun....ok Tilly ran around he just followed..

Tilly has finished her season, and they have stayed firm friends..I was chatting to the guy today and he said he was thinking of getting another dog as a pal for his dog.

So would a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a whippet be a good match, as you have guessed he has a male, would a male whippet cause problems or should he get a female (speyed) or dont put them together??

I while back i was walking Tilly when someone warned me about this Rhodesian Ridgeback who was attacking other dogs.....turned out it was this one, but the collies had attacked him first, he has shown no aggression towards Tilly at all, ever..

Any advice would be welcome

I don't know about Rhodesian's, except that they look stunning! However, i would tend to suggest that it is down to the individual dog whether or not he will accept a new dog into the home or not. Im sure the owner knows whether his dog is territorial with other dogs, or whether he doesn't mind friends or relatives dogs coming into the house. Also, whether or not he is overpowering and would flatten a whippet! Is the Rhodesian entire or castrated, but i guess the former due to his interest in Tilly!

Chloe the Dobermann has readily accepted Frankie into our home. However, this is not the same as she is a speyed bitch. Show's that varying breeds of different sizes can live together happily though. Other people with multiples of varying sexes will be better off in advising what the best combination is.

Thank you for the reply.

I think a speyed bitch would be better , although he may well accept a male better

Not sure
