It's taken a hell of a long time and a lot of effort, not to mention all the abuse, but judging from recent postings it appears that at last the k9 community accepts (with exceptions no doubt) that the BWRA authority got it wrong when they punished Jan Ambrosini, Rab Pattison, Jane Poole and Colin Nevison for 'chocolate doping'. Although no rules were broken (ie. results were not officially positive, the levels could not be proved and the substances were not performance enhancing), I can understand the members turning a blind eye to the BWRA committee's hard line if the same members believed that the dogs had been given an edge to gain their titles. However, we all should now know that this in fact was not the case, and that Don Ambro, Hillside Lad, Xstasy and Avalanche all won their BWRA Rch titles on merit. The k9 moderators have seen the relevant documentation from the British Veterinary Association and I hope they will back me on this.
So my point is this: - Should pressure now be brought to bear on the BWRA to reinstate the titles and apologise to the owners for what may have been a simple mistake? It will be the first step towards healing a very damaged sport.
