Hi Vanna,

are you the breeder of Ringmore Yours Ever??? or have I got it all wrong...

I was just re- reading the Crufts show crit - she gets a lovely crit! and wondered when Espen Engh writes

' I was very interested to see from the catalogue afterwards that she comes from a rare cross between two the the breed's top strains'

what the 2 strains are? and is it a 'rare cross'?

Congratulations if she is of your breeding - she sounds lovely - are there any photos of her on this board?

Rachel   :)

Hi Rachel,

I'm afraid I can't claim responsibility for Lily.  She is one that my mother bred, by Ch Peperone Play Off out of Nimrodel Risque.  (Risque is half Nimrodel and half Ringmore).  I don't have any photos of her, but if you have a copy of the latest Biennial, she is in that under Ringmore.

Thanks for the info Vanna - just out of curiosity - if you bred a litter could you (being your mothers daughter!!) also use the Ringmore affix?

Rachel   :)

Actually, I can and do use the Ringmore affix because I have a separate interest in it.  I only get to use it by paying the KC for my part of it!  Although naturally any joint or separate interests can only be set up with the permission of the original owner - in this case Mum.

My first 2 litters were bred with an affix of my own (a phase of teenage rebellion! ), but I let that lapse and decided to become the 3rd generation of Ringmores.

Just as a matter of interest Vanna what was this rebelious affix? :D

Oh Dear!  I hoped no-one was going to ask that!   I sent in 6 anagrams of Ringmore (quite a challenge in itself! ).  Some of them sounded quite pretty, but i got number 5 - Ermonrig!  It still appears in some pedigrees.  E Ariadne was the mother of Marianne van Raalte's Ch Suchini Shimmer of Gold, and I think of Ch S Sundancer as well.  E Bruno was the grandfather of Gladly (Ringmore Drinking Partner), who I am showing now. But they are gradually dropping off the back of the pedigrees now - the last Ermonrig litter was born in 1983!

Oh yes I remember now, and did you try for Grinmore :D

Hi Vanna, you must be very proud to be part of the Ringmore dynasty now.  I can't imagine having been brought up in a household where dog showing was so important - I spoke to Mandy Moncrieff lately who was taken to shows in her pram and has gone on to be generation two of the Runaround affix!  My children moan like mad when I even mention dog showing - I think they'd have hurled themselves out of their prams if I'd taken them as little uns     :(

Rachel   :)

Have to agree with you there Rachel.

Four grown up children and not one intrested in dogs.

The closest we ever got was a bit of child handling at the age of 6/7.

What does it say for showing in the future!   :D

Sometimes its just luck.  My brother loves the dogs as much as I do, and was always a much better handler than me (very galling to be beaten by your kid brother in handling classes all the time! )  He also stewarded for loads of clubs, but the career he chose means that he is often abroad, and so can't have a whippet.  Although he has said that as soon as he stops travelling so much, we have to provide him with a little red bitch - preferrably one as evil as Mum's Mella! (R Unwritten Law) :0
