I'm very sad today, because my friend Maureen's dog WCRCh Fat Boy Slim, or Polo as he was known at home, had to be put to sleep to save him suffering.

Polo was only ill for a very short time, probably a week at the most, and for that we are thankful. We always called him "The Wise White One", because he was a very clever dog, and faithful companion to Maureen.

Polo won 5 Championship finals, and was placed in many more.

He was a big dog and Mo found it difficult to keep him down to 32lbs - he was never skinny, but he loved his food, and she loved to spoil him. He went off his usual food, but would accept chicken, and even then we thought "The Wise White One" was being wise, and knew if he didn't eat his dinner he'd get some more chicken!

He was off colour on Monday, and had tests at the vet on Wednesday and Thursday, and had an appointment at the vets today for the results. Before going to the vet today, Polo had a fit. He came out of it, but didn't look at all well. The vets face said it all when they arrived - Polo had a very aggressive form of cancer of the bladder......... He went off to sleep peacefully this afternoon.

Maureen, Gary, Tara, and Leah will miss him very much, and feel honoured to have owned such a wonderful dog.

RIP Wise White One

Well done june for putting such a beautiful write up on poor solo, it was very sad to here the news. :(

Do you know how old he was, and the breeding, as we think one of my dogs raced against him in many race's.

I rearly like the name The Wise White One.

So R.I.P solo.

Hi Colin & Tina

Polo was only 8 years old, and was WCRCh Flash Bang Wallop x Diana Tecca

Maureen doesn't see this board, but I'll pass on everyone's good wishes

How utterly devastating. We lost an 8 year old dog quite suddenly, and it is very traumatic as in themselves they are still fit and seem to have lived only half a life. It seems like you have been cheated when they go before their time.

That is a very beautiful obituary June, and even though I don't know Polo, he feels familiar. I hope the hole he has left isn't too large and painful for his owners, time heals, RIP Polo.

So sorry to hear about Polo :( My thoughts are with Maureen and family.

How very sad for his family, we love them so much it must be so hard when they leave us :(

Please send Maureen our condolences - if you see her give her a hug from us.

Polo was a gentle giant and him and Iffy (Duncton Spirit) enjoyed many a happy day running against each other in their early years. Iffy is 8 too and I just cannot bear the thought.

Our thoughts are with her and the girls. Bet Mia will really miss him.

So sorry to hear that polo is no longer with us :( He was a lovely gentle big old softee, please pass on to Maureen,Tara,Gary & Leah our condolances...we know how special he was to them :huggles: Caz Gaz & Saz xxx

So sorry to read this June. Polo was a lovely dog. To lose him at such a young age Maureen must be so upset. He was very special to her.

A really, really nice dog.

R.I.P. Polo, having had the pleasure to see this dog race, it is so sad for Maureen and her family to lose him at such a young age, our deepest sympathies are with you all at this sad time. :(

Really sorry to hear this. We didn't have a dog that ever ran against Polo (no heavyweights at the time) but used to watch him run just the same. I know he was a bit special to Maureen & Marcus.

RIP Polo.

So sorry to hear this, 8 is no age to go :(
