I'm very sad today, because my friend Maureen's dog WCRCh Fat Boy Slim, or Polo as he was known at home, had to be put to sleep to save him suffering.
Polo was only ill for a very short time, probably a week at the most, and for that we are thankful. We always called him "The Wise White One", because he was a very clever dog, and faithful companion to Maureen.
Polo won 5 Championship finals, and was placed in many more.
He was a big dog and Mo found it difficult to keep him down to 32lbs - he was never skinny, but he loved his food, and she loved to spoil him. He went off his usual food, but would accept chicken, and even then we thought "The Wise White One" was being wise, and knew if he didn't eat his dinner he'd get some more chicken!
He was off colour on Monday, and had tests at the vet on Wednesday and Thursday, and had an appointment at the vets today for the results. Before going to the vet today, Polo had a fit. He came out of it, but didn't look at all well. The vets face said it all when they arrived - Polo had a very aggressive form of cancer of the bladder......... He went off to sleep peacefully this afternoon.
Maureen, Gary, Tara, and Leah will miss him very much, and feel honoured to have owned such a wonderful dog.
RIP Wise White One
