Just to let anyone know who is a member of the club, or who has been a member, or who might be interested in racing there again;
Joyce and I went to a meeting with North Tyneside council and we hope we have reached an agreement that the club will be able to stay on at the Rising Sun track. The gentleman we met with was a great bloke, very understanding and appreciative of the facts we presented to him.
Hopefully we will be able to come to an arrangement about the yearly rent that we will have to pay, but he seemed fairly positive that it wouldn't be the £500 that they quoted originally.
The fact that we will have to pay rent and take out a tenancy agreement was something that was non-negotiable, the agreement with the old NCB was never put in writing and wasn't an agreement for 100 yrs, according to the council. As we haven't been able to find any written evidence to suggest otherwise then we are stuck, but not unable to race as we had feared. Joyce, myself and one other guarantor have to sign the lease and we all need to prove were upstanding citizens!! Not quite sure how that might go lol
The council also stated they would put the track back to it's original state, sort out the grass and the drainage and look to help us get a different storage container...................possibly even a brick building!! With electricity and water!!! BUT we would have to apply for grants etc. Still, will cross that bridge when we come to it.
So...............the Sun might be up and racing by the turn of the year (2010 that is, not 2100 lol), if the council manage to get the contractors out to fix the track. We will need a meeting before that to look at fees etc, so will let people know when.
If anyone wants to know anymore details then PM me.
chris
P.S. Will put it on the sun's website
