Just got back from the vet's and he has comfermed our worst fear. Rose will never run again due to snapping the side ligaments in her hock. She has to go back on Thur. for a poss. op. to pin the hock together. We are totally gutted as Rose when she was right was showing as much potential as her mam. She will be kept with us as a pet. Her racing has been cut short the same way Sasperalla's was by a dog hitting her at the trip after she had won the race. Good job it was just a 17lb that hit her or it could have been worse.

Thankyou to every one who has asked after Rose. Because she'll never run again the vet is hoping she won't need an op. We have to take her back on Thursday if when the cast come's off the leg is straight then he will just leave her. But he said with this injeary he find's the other ligaments tend to pull the foot to the side. If this is the case then he has give me the choise eather to leave it as it is or to pin it so it heal's straight. We have disided even though she'll not race we want her to heal as best as poss. so if she need's on op. then stuff the expence she will have it. Money means nothing when my dogs are conserned.

Poor Rose she was very impressive in her heat at the Derby she had a great turn of pace, good luck with her treatment and we hope that she returns to you in the best possible health. :luck:

sorry to hear the bad news sharon and i hope she does'nt need the opperation ;)

Unfortanally Rose did have to have a op. today. When the cast was removed you could see clearly the foot turning inward. The vet said as it healed it would pull even further round. She is back home now fast a sleep.

:luck: :luck: or i really hope this op works for her. that sounds really nasty. :(

Had Rose back for a check up and the vet has said it was worse than he thought when he went in. The ligaments between the tibia and hock had snapped, the ligaments at the side of the hock had disintegrated and the ligaments at the front of the hock had snapped. She now has 3 screws and wire wraped round then to keep it all in place.
