ROXY
Roxy is a 1-2 year old greyhound girl who was not fast enough for the race track. She is a petite little girl who is small in stature and curls up even smaller on the bed! Roxy has a velvety black coat and is sure to be a gorgeous little beauty once she puts on some condition.
Roxy is a lively girl and is bursting to get out and see the world. She loves any kind of interaction and always greets you with an amazingly waggy tail. She is still just a big playful puppy and you can tell she just loves life. She always gets super happy when she knows its time for her walk and really enjoys her treat at the end of the day. You can’t help but smile at her goofy antics.
Roxy girl is being walked with a gentle leader right now to help teach her to walk to heel, and her training is coming along nicely. When out walking, she is initially quite excited and bursting to sniff every grass blade, but she soon calms down. Walking her with other, calmer greyhounds is also helping her learn.
Roxy has been good with the other dogs she has met, large and small, though would likely be too much for an older doggie companion to keep up with. She would be best with another young dog for company who could play her game and help her get rid of that excess energy. Similarly, Roxy may be better with slightly older children as she can be a bouncy girl at times. She is not cat friendly.
Don’t let her exuberance turn you away, however, as Roxy is certain to make a fantastic companion for whoever decides to adopt her. With a bit of training and work on channelling her enthusiasm, Roxy has masses of potential and is a ‘go anywhere’ kind of dog.
Dear Roxy has not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. She is clean in her kennel, however, and generally it takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home.
Roxy is currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick her up. She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Roxy, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!
