RUFUS

Rufus is an 18 month old greyhound who was not fast enough for the racetrack. He is a lovely young boy with a spotted Dalmation-esque coat and black eye patch.

Rufus is a gorgeous, friendly boy. He is still very young and puppyish in behaviour, and loves loves loves to play. He adores being around people and getting a fuss. This lad is sure to settle fantastically in to a home environment and is going to really relish having toys to call his.

Little Rufus would do best in a busy home with perhaps children or other dogs to romp with in the garden in between his walks. He likes to stay active until the evening time when he is more than content to curl up in front of the TV. He has been well behaved with our other greyhounds in the kennels and loves to play chase with them in the paddock. He has not been tested with smaller dogs or cats yet, but these will be carried out prior to adoption.

Rufus has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding and patient at the start and allow him time to settle and get accustomed to the huge changes. It shouldn’t take him more than a couple of weeks to settle down.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

**UPDATE: JANUARY 2011**

Rufus has now travelled across to the UK where he is waiting for his forever home. This boy is a total sweetheart and loves giving affection, though he is sadly quite head-shy at the moment and shows signs of rough treatment in the past. His timidness should decrease as he gets used to receiving lots of cuddles.

Rufus can also be a bit spooked by loud noises, and is just generally unused to the world outside of racing kennels. Once this lovely boy is in a loving home, however, we expect him to burst out of his shell and show us his true character. If given a bit of time and patience, Rufus is a hound absolutely full to the brim with love and potential to be that perfect family pet.

This sweetie is currently being kennelled in Norfolk, UK. He can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to meet and collect him. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Rufus, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application and information pack. Emails are usually replied to within 24hrs. Thanks!
