Many of our dog walks cross land owned by one farm. They have a non working collie. Although he is not aggressive, he has not been socialised wlth other dogs & does not know how to behave with them.

The latest problem is that he has become very amourous with my bitch (she is not in season), & grabs her by the neck & mounts her. He has even flipped her over & tried "human style" !

I obviously won't walk her there when she is in season, but it has ruined most of my walks.

I have talked to the owner, who is my colleague, which doesn't help, but they don't see there is a problem.

I had thought about squirting the dog with lemon juice, but don't want to make matters worse.

That's a shame if you cannot enjoy you walks there but if you choose to go on someone's land and are aware that the land owners dog behaves like this surely there is not much you can do? At least it is a dog and not an agressive bull - what would you do then, probably avoid it if it causes you distress?

Get a water pistol! You never know it might distract him. A big hammer would do the trick, but you might get sued!!!!!!!!!! lol

:D

It is a shame when male dogs behave like this, my lot now hate golden retrievers because one roams about alone where we walk and annoys my bitches who are spayed! He won't go away, I have chucked stones at him but he just ignores them. I end up finishing the walk with them all on leads, not funny. I am not the only dog walker who's dogs suffer either. We have asked the owner to keep him on her property, she thinks it is funny and just laughs at us.
