Some very sad news, Roy Mussett lost his fight with cancer and passed away yesterday at home.

Roy was a mainstay in whippet racing for the past 40 years.

He was very proud when he took a title with his dog IXL back in 1999.

He recently attended the BWRA Championships at Old Hall, along with the family for a day out watching the sport he and wife Muriel loved so much.

He will be deeply missed by Muriel, his two sons and grandchildren, not forgetting all his whippet racing friends up and down the country who had the true pleasure of knowing him.

Roy was one of the real characters in racing, always at hand with a good joke or funny tale, gently teasing the youngsters, and always ready for a pint or a G & T with a nice twist of lime.

This ‘dapper’ true gentleman will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Muriel & family have requested no further posting on k9 from Roy’s friends on this sad occasion.

The funeral details will be posted later.

I can picture him now up in heaven…reading his newspaper, picking out a couple of horses with a ice cold G & T in hand….chatting-up the ladies and telling his funny stories to young and old!

RIP Roy, our dear friend xxxxx
