Billy (or Billy-Bob as he has become affectionately known!) is a very sweet 2 year old saluki x whippet. He is an energetic boy who needs a reasonable amount of exercise, he walks very well on his lead and even remains well behaved when his companions are allowed to run free. Billy is typical of this crossing and has a limited recall, when it is just him and his foster brother playing fetch he is perfect, returning the toy to you nicely, however, if there are other dogs or distractions around he just can’t control his excitement and can be difficult to get back, so his off lead work and recall require fine tuning in a secure area where he can burn off his energy. Billy loves other dogs, but can be a little too excitable for some so his play mates should have a matching energy level.

Billy is an absolute babe in the house, he is quiet and spends a lot of his time curled up in a chair, however, he does have a degree of separation anxiety which means he cannot be left alone for long periods of time, he can even become anxious if you have too much of a lie in, and will call out to check you are still there. Because of this anxiety Billy is looking for a home where someone is about most of the time, or where he could go to work with his new owner, we think he would be a good office dog as he settles easily in company.

Billy is house-trained, vaccinated, micro-chipped, castrated and wormed up to date. If you think you could offer this sweet boy his forever home please contact Pip on 01386 853 971 or linda on 0121 258 4510

Billy is still waiting for a forever home he has decided that he would do his own update

Hi its Billy-Bob here, I’ve been nagging my foster Mum to write and update me for a while, but she has been busy so I’ve decided to have a go myself! Typing is tricky with paws rather than finger so please excuse my typos. I’m a 2 year old Saluki Whippet cross, I have been castrated, microchipped and my vaccinations are up to date. I am an energetic boy who loves to play with his toys, I’m really good at catch and can even jump nearly to the ceiling to get my favourite toys, Mum cheats she stand is a chair and wiggles my toys right under the light shade.

When we go for a walk I am very well behaved, I trot alongside my Mum or Dad and don’t pull, but this morning was just so exciting I had to have a bit of a bounce about and bite the ground, I just love the snow! Mum was great though she stopped and played ‘catch the snowball’ with me, I really do love a good game. At the weekends, when Mum takes us for a long walk in the field I love to run about and play with anyone who is interested, some of the other dogs don’t really understand me when I bark, all I want them to do is chase with me. My best mate is a terrier cross, he gets the idea but he’s very tricky to catch, when I get close he rolls over and trips me up its good fun though, its odd, his name is Billy too. Mum thinks she has worked out the best way to catch me when I’m running about, but you know you have to humour the humans sometimes! She waves my ragga rope in the air so I charge back to her and grab it and give her a quick game of tug, after all it keeps her happy.

I’m getting more relaxed about being left at home now, I’m now okay to be left for a couple of hours as long as you don’t mind me jumping about like a loon when you get home, I just get so excited to see my humans. Mum says I need to use my indoor kennel when she goes out, it stops me getting in to trouble, but she leave the door open overnight so I can have a bit of a wander about if I want to.

In my forever home I would like someone to play with, I don’t mind if that’s a doggy friend or a human friend (kids are fun if they don’t get worried by me jumping about), either is good for me. It would be nice if my new humans didn’t need to leave me alone for more than a couple of hours, but I wouldn’t mind going to work with them as long as I have had a nice walk and a cosy bed to sleep in. I’d like a garden that is big enough to have a game of fetch in and a cosy bed. If you think you have space for me please give Auntie Pip or Auntie Linda a call. Thanks Billy-Bob
