SAMMY
Sammy is a 3 and a half year old ex-racing greyhound who will be 4 in October. He is a truly stunning boy with striking eyes and a shiny blue coat that is in lovely condition.
Sammy is a placid, good natured dog and tends to take everything in his stride. He loves being around people and soaks up any attention you give him. Sammy especially enjoys his walks and he behaves perfectly on the lead. He is very good with the other greyhounds he shares his kennels with, though care will need to be taken when introducing him to smaller breeds of dog as at first he might not realise they are dogs! He is not cat friendly.
Gorgeous Sammy boy has never been in a home before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient at the start of the adoption and allow him time to settle in and get accustomed to the new house rules. He is clean in his kennel, however, and travels very well in the car.
Sammy is currently in kennels in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. He will be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting this gorgeous fella, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our information pack and adoption questionnaire. Thanks!
**UPDATE 06/2010**
Sammy has settled nicely in our kennels now and his little personality is shining through. He greets everyone with a waggy tail and absolutely loves getting his chin scratched! He is a leaner too, and loves to rest against your leg while you pet him. He is quite a petite little boy, being a bit small for a male greyhound, and has beautiful big striking eyes that grab your attention immediately.
Sammy has been very well behaved so far and is really a no-hassle kind of dog. After his morning walk he is very happy to just laze around and snooze the day away. He has met a variety of different dogs, including a small shih tzu, without any problems and he is a dream to walk on the lead. He also travels well in the car, quickly settling down without a fuss.
Although Sammy has not yet been in a home, he is spotlessly clean in his kennel and will wait to go outside to toilet so we dont think housetraining will be very difficult. He likes to give a quirky little yodle when he needs to go out, and after that he settles down happily again. He is also a complete food hog and ADORES his meals, so anyone who has a treat at hand quickly becomes his new best friend!
This gorgeous boy is going to make a superb companion for someone. Like most greyhounds, Sammy will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week. He has a calm personality and is a steady, dependable kind of dog.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting this gorgeous fella, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our information pack and adoption questionnaire which must be filled out prior to adoption. Thanks!
~~ KERRY GREYHOUND CONNECTION ~~
Kerry Greyhound Connection is a small voluntary organisation based in County Kerry, Ireland and Norfolk, England and operates through a network of volunteers. We can look after approximately 50 greyhounds at any one time, in both Ireland and the UK.
Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and given a full veterinary check before being adopted.
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the USA. We work hard to match the right hound to the right home, and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
