If you were in a position to be having a new track set up would you prefer a sandpit finish or not.

If you prefer sandpit finish how far after finish line would you situate it, what size would you make it (length, width, depth).

Please feel free to give reasons why you would be for or against a sandpit finish.

I've just watched a tape of racing from 1995 and I couldn't belive the sand pit finish it must have went down a foot down one side. I said to my dad that no one nower days would run on it but he said them days people did they never complained like they do now.

I did a poll on this a while ago and was quite surprised to find the majority was not to have one I personally prefer sand pit finish

Sand pit finish every time for me

like geoff says sand pit every time, saves stoppers. nocked up toes, burns, plus lots of little nigling ones that only show up a few days later, but they must be kept

flat, and not to deep or legs go to deep with leg breaks possible, but overall much safer with the sand.

Surely not that time of the year again ALREADY !!!

not to sure as it has some bad points :( do you think they dig in and pull up so sharp causing strains etc but on grass you can get same problems plus skinned stoppers. i will go for the sand pit

sand pit finish is ok if they are checked on a regular basis ,i remember coxlodge used to have one but had to be filled in when the local idiots started breaking bottles in it.

I think they're good if they're maintained well. Something i dont like is when the edges get raised up (i guess as the sand gets pushed out to the edge), like John says too you have to be careful what's in there (and kiss your white jackets goodbye, the sand gets everywhere, and no amount of Daz gets them clean lol)

We couldn't get away with it on our track, there'd be sand spread all over the field by the idiots around there.
