SANDRA
Sandra is pretty greyhound girl who has been handed to us with her sister Irene as they weren’t good enough for the racing world. Both Sandra and Irene have been named after two ladies in the UK who donate a lot of time and effort into knitting the dog jumpers that we sell in our online shop. Sandra has a lovely white coat with black splodges and Dalmatian type dots on her face. Her coat is a wee bit lack lustre right now, but this will improve once she’s out of kennels. She is also missing the end of her tail due to an old injury that occurred before she came to us.
We would love to find a home for these two dear ladies together if we can, but we would consider homing them separately if the right home comes along.
~ Personality ~
Sandra is a friendly, sociable girl who we are still getting to know. She enjoys human company and seems to be a very amiable lady. She is always looking forward to her walks and her supper, and we hope to get her into a foster home soon so we can get to know her personality a little bit more.
~ In the Home ~
Sandra has not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. It generally takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience.
~ Other Animals ~
Sandra is well behaved with the other greyhounds in the kennels and is very amiable. She has not been tested with small dogs or cats but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required.
~ Out and About ~
Like most greyhounds, Sandra is trained to walk to heel and will also not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.
~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
~ Where Am I? ~
Sandra is currently in kennels with her sister in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to meet and collect her.
~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Sandra is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.
If you are interested in adopting or short-term fostering Sandra, please email me (Tam) on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Emails are usually replied to within 24hrs. Thanks!
~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~
Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe. We can look after approximately 30 greyhounds at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.
Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and given a full veterinary check before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in Ireland, the UK, Central Europe and the USA.

If interested in one of our hounds, please EMAIL me for our adoption application form and information pack. Once you have filled in and returned the application form, we will then contact you via phone or email to discuss adopting one of our hounds in more detail.
If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. I can be contacted through the following email:
