hi everybody.i just want to know is their any sort of enterteinment for the kids this year like a disco.as a parent iam sick of seeing them poor kids hanging around the talk of the toun. so come on do somthing for the kids please.people travel a long way so think of the kids please :(

I presume you mean entertainment in the evenings as I think John and team did a pretty good job last year with the games session organised in the afternoon.

A disco might be a good idea in the evening-but there is such an age range to cater for - the teens wouldn't want to hang around a disco for the 7-10yr olds...

And then this would need to be supervised by a responsible adult/s....... (w00t) Unless the parents were willing to stick around?????? :- "

Its a tricky one-I don't want to appear negative-but we are there to race whippets aren't we? I know many make it one of their holidays......but all the same- shouldn't families be responsible for their own family entertainment??

Thats my opinion anyhow-

I think the club do enough-their responsibility in my eyes is making sure the track is right-camping conditions acceptable-and fair racing....prize money is a bonus! (not really interested if there's money or not)

at melton mowbray last year i do know that pauline put games on for the kids for all age groups and presents from people who donated and herself, and she had no children of her own , she is just a club member for that club, maybe some one from scotland could do the same

tricky pub laws too mate 9.00 pm for kids in the pub ,i know it stinks but thats the law maybe we could all get together and arange something on the feild sometime over the camping period :) last years games were a good laugh

Hi all :) ,,The last 2 years we have put on a games night for the kid's. It's held on the Friday before the derby. I have 2 young kids and we take them to Burntisland, about 10miles from Kirkcaldy,,swimming, the pool is on the prom,,the beach, sports centre at Glenrothes, 5 mins away. There is loads to do at Kirkcaldy. At night we sit next to the caravan and have a drink and the kids play. We dont go to the pub as we have young kids. If you want a disco for the kids, have a disco and im sure Decca can organise it :- " This year another games night will be held on the Friday night around 6pm for the kid's and big kids

At the BWRA champs last year, Pauline, myself, John, Sue (pips pride) and a few other's organised a BBQ and games night for the kids, and they had a ball :D

:) Come on parents, all it takes is a few ballons , games , prizes , music , food and a good sence of humour :D

We can't expect afew workers to organise the racing and work hard all day to then entertaine the children at night.

I'm sure the parents could put on a good party, it was great fun last year at Asfordby 40 children   and just 6 adults. All the children went back to their caravans with prizes a full tummy , and a big smile on their faces.

Yes you have been in the sport since you were a baby Andrew  Im so pleased you dont have to have help with your nappies anymore LOL

So theres one ready to help, I will send up some stuff for the kids = party bags , ballons , etc. Who else is going to help Andrew out ?

Funny enough we were talking about this last week at the club and we were not sure wether or not to do it this year and decided to wait and see if there was going to be enough interest well it would seem that there is and I will let the club committee know the next time that I see them. To be honest I cannot see the disco happening due to the pub laws but I am sure we could sort out some kind of games night but we would need a hand as we are a small club. I have two kids myself and like the idea of this as like yourself I have travelled long distances to events with my kids but please remember Kirkcaldy WRC is a small club who are putting on five days of racing and if its anything like last year trials most days, car park duty at the barrier all day, cleaning the pavillion and all the other sfuff that people don't know about, events like these don't run themselfs and I am shattered at the end of it as I have already said I have travelled long distances with my kids to events and they have put nothing on for the kids but I tend to appreciate the effort they make for the racing after all that's what we are there for is it not, but I am sure with a bit of help we can sort something out for the kids.

Putting entertainment on is great as long as the parents of the children attending help out - not just use it to dump thier kids whilst they go on the **** ----therefore taking the ****!!!--as John has said this is only a very small club who always try hard to make your stay a happy one---over recent years the Kirkaldy club along with some parents have been able to provide some entertainment but it is what you as family members put in that determines what you get out---Gary Gorton always has his family entertained along with quite a few others--Cricket-football -Rounders--and even an odd game of Bingo-for the kids quite a lot depends on the weather--two year ago whilst we were there we used the pavillion in the afternoon for bingo and i think most who attended quite liked it ---maybe if you ask Arthur Cooke he will ok it??

its all about input ---and how much you put in!! if its worth doing do it dont leave it all to someone else ---

When Harry and Laura were younger i saw to it that they were busy and entertained taking them for days out to Burnt Island swimming--just five minute away from track there is a go-kart track --bowling alley just ten mins away lots of loveley places to visit and lots of beaches like St Andrews take dogs as well --you only pay about 15 quid for campimg for the week and that gives you as many showers as you want water -site -and racing-track---toilets --.its not Butlins- even the Gypsies-two year ago -were happy to pay for the stay-lol

i don,t know of any one who drops there children off anywhere to go on the ****. 3 years ago when i was at scotland i loaded my car and joe and lesley also loaded there van with KIDS not BOOZE and took off for the day, going to the swimming baths and fairground, it was very hectic but fun, as you know my kids are up now, like so many others but there are still young uns and there are our future in whippet racing

I DON'T MIND GETTING SOME PRIZES FOR THE KIDS IF YOU ARE ARRANGING GAMES ETC:

YOU COULD HOLD A JUNIOR SPORTS DAY

Come on mums and dads, if you want your children to have a party then some of you need to be there to help out. You can't expect a small club with a small work force to do it all for you.

It was great fun last year at Asfordby but hard work sorting it all took me awhole day. Only 3 parents helped us Susan and John Weir and Sue Smithson and her lad Kevin. :sweating:

So far Only Andrew has offerd his help, lets see more names

I am sure with a little help from our fellow racers we can sort something out even if we can sort out a sports day there is nothing to stop us doing some spur of the moment things like Gary has done in the past I just hope that we are blessed with good weather it sure would help.

We spoke about this today at the club and we decided if there was enough interest and helpers we would try and do something for the kids also there might be a kids disco on the Friday before the Derby as efforts are being made to get a hall if it goes ahead it will be between 7pm and 9pm but it is not a creche adult supervision will be required.

just out of curiosity where the parents of these kids that hang around the top o the toon pub? i have to say ive not seen many hanging around in the last 5 year or so?

also where does put entertainment on 4 kids? i know @ the champs etc u r allowed kids in the hall etc but i dont think there is specific entertainment on 4 kids is there? maybe im wrong i dont know just curious

As far as I am led to believe from George who attended club meeting today, there will be some games for the kids and adults if they want to take part, also a disco on the Friday evening, of course parents cant just leave young kids for committee members to supervise, but most parents are completely reliable, and of course there is the event we have all been waiting for the Football match.

This has all been fitted in on the days club members are able to get of from work so I hope some racers can come up with something on the non event days to occupy everyone, in past years I know there have been a few folk who have spent quality time with kids to make it an enjoyable holiday.
