It's been 2 weeks since we saw the behaviourist & we've been following a complicated treatment programme. It's going quite well but it's going to take a long time before she is fully recovered (if that ever happens)

We havn't been able to go for our normal walks in the park 2 minutes away so we've been driving to other places instead which is quite nice really, we had a great time in Lyme Park yesterday.

On a Friday & Sunday we usually meet up with lurcher friends which she loves so I've had to drive the 30 secs down the road to the park :b (the neighbours must think I'm dead lazy)

The clicker training is great, she now fully associates the "click" with getting a treat reward. We are having to put her collar & lead on in the house & then treat her & now she's got used to it & does not start to pant & shake when she sees the lead, which is a big improvement on how she was before. Today she even started to play whilst wearing collar & lead so must be feeling much more relaxed about it all.

I'm also taking her up to the front door, out of the door, onto the step, as far as the gate & actually onto the pavement outside. This is all in very very short steps but again she's managed to get to the roadside without showing any panic. Before she would be pulling, shaking & panting as soon as we got out the door.

If she keeps improving like this then I really do think she'll be ok again in time.

To make up for not as many walks I'm teaching her some new tricks with the clicker training & she seems to be enjoying learning new things.

At first I was a bit daunted by how much we had to do but as I can see small improvements already it's now more of a challenge.

We have a follow up appointment in 2 weeks so hopefully I will be able to report back with some more improvements :)

Here she is, "Nervous Nerys"

Glad she is progressing, Julie, however slow. I'm sure it will be well worth it in the end.

It actually sounds as though you've come a long way in a short time - I'm really pleased she's making progress :luck:

That's a lovely picture - she's so pretty

Such a sweetie!

I'm pleased to hear how well she's coming on. Great stuff!

Hiya - what sort of dog is Nerys? I have a rescue who looks almost identical and we dnt have a clue about her make-up. She has a noise phobia - we have to sedate her come fireworks night.

Glad the therapy is working.

Hi,

Scrumpy is also a rescue so we don't know either. Most people seem to think she is whippetX bedlington & there was a pic on here last week from Old Blue Eye whos dog was the spitting image of Scrumpy & was that breeding.

Your dog is lovely :)
